I love technology simply because my life without it would be boring. I think my house has more electronics than a tech store, my purse sees more gadgets than cosmetics, and my car has more buttons on the dashboard than the Starship Enterprise. If you're like me, I invite you to embark with me on a trendspotting mission to find the coolest gadgets and other must-have gear that's sure to inspire envy or outright gadget-lust. So before you spend a dime, find out what's hot, what's not, and what will become obsolete before the day is over.

Technophilia: The Love of Tech

My obsession with technology began in Japan, where I lived for two years. You see, before becoming a technophile, I was a well-disciplined G.I. Jane. After completing Marine Corps boot camp and military training in Logistics, I decided living in Japan would add to my already life-changing experience. I was right! Living in Okinawa in 1996 was a glimpse into the hi-tech future I presently live in. This is where I got my first computer, cell phone, digital camcorder, laser disc player (gasp), and even took up gaming. During my down-time overseas, I also found creative ways to stay in touch with family and friends by creating web sites. Remember Tripod? Gosh, who doesn't remember those ghastly animated gifs and JavaScript effects? Yet that was how I built my first personal web site, and posted pictures for all to see. Once I came back to the States, I enrolled in programming classes, and decided web design was a great way to unleash my creative potential while maintaining a connection with technology.

Becoming a Techie Diva

I've developed a keen eye for style and design in my eight years as a web designer, and continue to do so in the San Francisco Bay Area. My latest obsession is called TechieDiva.com, a blog I started that chronicles the most desirable gadgets camouflaged in sleek designs that lure even the most style-conscious hipster. Techie Diva has been featured in The Today Show, Contra Costa Times, New York Times, and is one of the few emerging gadget blogs for women. I'm also a technology editor for SBC's Project Du, and recently became an advisor for Yahoo! Tech. I hope to bring you exciting gear in months to come, so stay tuned. Bookmark this site, and enjoy the tech buzz this year will bring.
