School's almost out, but it's never too early to start thinking about the type of gear you'll want for the Fall semester. If you're looking for a laptop, keep an eye on the new Dell Art House-Special Edition Laptop collection which will include several artists in the series. For this round, Dell commissioned Brooklyn-based artist Mike Ming who delivered two cool graffiti-inspired tattoo designs for the Dell Inspiron 1525.

One design is called “Bunch O Surfers,” the other “Sea Sky,” both meant to appeal to the younger generation. Dell says the artsy Inspiron 1525 is smaller, thinner, and lighter than its predecessor, so that should be a huge selling point since kids do have to carry them in their backpacks.

Prices start at $699 for the Mike Ming Edition, which packs an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, 3GB memory, and 160GB hard drive, or $799 for the Mike Ming Extreme that includes an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 320GB storage.

Both look very good, but totally not my style. What do you think of the Mike Ming laptop? Yay or nay?

Such an excellent thing to do, lets promote graffiti & tattoos. Its not as if these kids do not see enough of it already. What's next stupid gang tags?

Honestly to me, the specs (RAM/HD/Graphics/battery life. ect) are more important to me that the physical design of the computer. Normally. And If I did decide on a computer for its physical appearance, it probably would not be a design on it. But more thinness, and lightness (MB air comes to mind).

How about a plastic sheath? I can print my own design on a color printer, then "personalise" my laptop by slipping it between the plastic and the actual case. In fact - didn't someone do the same thing for mobile phones ?

That's a yay. A really big yay. I love the designs! Though I do like the idea of someone designing their own with a plastic sheath better than preprinted designs, I have a feeling it would be flimsy and not too great of a feature- this is definitely the next best thing.
