Printers : Canon PIXMA MP600

I bought this slug at Best Buy on the recommendation of the sales rep there. He advised that Canon is the way to go since they use multiple ink tanks you actually save money in the long run. HAHA what he didn't say, or didn't know, is that this little dandy will up and stop recognizing the ink tanks!! Here's the bonus: there's nothing you can do about it. Canon customer service (which is free via email or $10.00 over the phone) advised they are aware of the problem and recommended TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER!!! Seriously?!

I have gone through approx. 4 ink tanks simply because the perfectly good ones in the printer didn't want to hold a conversation with the machine in which they were sitting. So you can buy new ink tanks to replace the ones that are half-full, but the new ones will stop working once they're half-full (or half-empty).

Also, on two separate occasions I have had to completely remove all the Canon software off my computer and reinstall it. Why? Because the computer pissed off the printer and they weren't talking. That's the only answer I could come up with! I didn't do anything whatsoever and all of a sudden the drivers were no longer recognized by my computer.

Another thing is the paper feeder...it broke after 2 months! I still have the paper tray, but that's it.

If I had the $$ to buy something else and then take a blow torch to this turd I would. Absolutely hate it!!!

In conclusion, if you are leading an all-too-happy life and want a little adrenaline-filled hatred, buy one of these. It'll fix you right up!! Hide Full Review

After just 3-months light usage my machine broke down - Error Code 6A00. Engineer called today to fix it thinking there is a paper jam somewhere - apparently the problem lies with either the sheet feed or the cartridge return tray (both are interlinked I'm told). Looks like a costly repair, luckily under warranty, and I'm going to be without my machine for another week. Had a Canon before (which still works 100% OK) but was unable to purchase e4 series cartridges for it anymore - I'm thinking of going back to HP!

First of all, if you're determined to pry out chips so you can use aftermarket print cartridges, good luck to you.



Second, this printer prints photos that you can't tell from photo lab photos. Great quality.



Third, it's EXCELLENT for b/w documents. Not blazing fast, but it's a home machine.



Only downer -- it's pretty big. Hope your shelf is reasonably large. But the price is VERY right, and the quality is excellent for the price. Hide Full Review
